Battle of Thenmaravar 2026 – Second Encounter
The much-anticipated Battle of Thenmaravar 2026 – Second Encounter between Drieberg College and Meesalai Veerasingam Central College will take place this June. The Thenmaradchi Cricket Academy (TCA) is proud to see several of its trained players representing both schools once again. Last year, TCA players earned the prestigious Best All-Rounder and Best Fielder awards, a testament to their hard work and dedication. We proudly wish all participating players the very best as they take the field for another exciting chapter of the Battle of Thenmaravar.
When Our Story Finds Its Way Back Home
We were honoured to receive an official request from KN/Kariyalai Nagapaduvan No.02 G.T.M. School to conduct a cricket training camp ahead of the District Competition. The request came through one of our former TCA players, now serving as the school's PT Master—a proud reflection of the lasting impact of Thenmaradchi Cricket Academy. Our coaches delivered focused sessions on skills, teamwork, and match preparation, continuing our mission to develop the next generation of cricketers. At TCA, we don't just train players—we build a lifelong cricket family.
Interest is increasing: Young people are flocking to it like never before
Cricket has seen a significant rise in popularity among children and young people, evolving from a simple sport into a passion and career aspiration. At the center of this growth is the Thenmarchchi Cricket Academy, which plays a vital role in nurturing young talent through structured training, experienced coaching, and a focus on discipline and teamwork. The academy is also encouraging greater participation from young girls, helping shape the future of women’s cricket. Its impact is evident as many of its players now compete in major school-level matches such as the Battle of the Hindu Brothers and the Battle of the Thenmaravar. These opportunities allow young cricketers to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience. Overall, the academy is transforming dreams into reality by providing the support and platform needed for aspiring players to succeed.
A Day at the Cricket Academy
Cricket is not only a sport but also a way to learn discipline, teamwork, and determination. Young players at a cricket academy practice under the guidance of their coach. They begin with warm-up exercises like jogging to prepare their bodies and prevent injuries. Regular practice helps them improve their skills, build confidence, and work towards their dreams of becoming successful cricketers.

Sports have played a transformative role in Akshayan’s growth over the past two years at the Thenmaradchi Cricket Academy. Since Grade 01, he has shown remarkable progress under the dedicated guidance of Coach Tharshan, whose professional yet enjoyable training approach has nurtured both his skills and passion for cricket. The academy’s selfless service—providing free quality coaching along with essential gear—has deeply touched us as parents. We are sincerely grateful to the academy and Coach Tharshan for their invaluable support and mentorship in shaping Akshayan’s budding cricket journey.
The Past
From 2019 to 2025, Thenmaradchi Cricket Academy (TCA) steadily strengthened grassroots cricket in the region through structured coaching, skill development camps, friendly matches, and practice tournaments. Despite challenges, the academy maintained continuous training, expanded participation, improved equipment, and deepened community engagement. Over the years, TCA has built not only skilled young cricketers but also a strong culture of discipline, teamwork, and community pride.

Founders’ Story
The story of We Love Cricket began in 2017, during a personal trip to Chavakachcheri, Thenmaradchi in Sri Lanka. As a cricket enthusiast, I was immediately drawn to the energy of the young people playing tennis cricket wherever they could find space. Their passion was unmistakable – but so was the lack of proper training facilities, equipment and structured opportunities for hardball cricket.
