In the first innings against Meesalai Veerasingam College, Driberg College were bowled out for just 81 runs, falling 118 runs behind and being forced to follow on. The second innings brought even more pressure. Under the outstanding bowling of K. Sajenthan of Veerasingam Central College, Driberg College were reduced to just 5 runs for 6 wickets.
With an innings defeat seemingly inevitable, Sareen stepped onto the field. Starting with patience and composure, he gradually shifted gears and launched a remarkable counterattack. Facing 175 balls, he scored 104 runs, including 7 fours and 9 sixes, becoming the first century-maker in the history of this series.
Alongside Sivaruban, Sareen built a crucial 109-run partnership, helping Driberg College fight back from the brink of defeat and reach 198 runs.
Although victory slipped away from the team, Sareen's heroic effort earned him the recognition he deserved. He was awarded both Best Batsman and Best Wicketkeeper of the match.
