From 5 Runs for 6 Wickets to a Fighting Partnership of 109 Runs – S. Sivaruban Rocks the Thenmaravar!
S. Sivaruban, captain of Drieberg College and a proud product of Thenmaradchi Cricket Academy, delivered an innings to remember in the historic Thenmaravar cricket encounter against Meesalai Veerasingam Central College.
After Drieberg College were dismissed for 81 runs in their first innings, the team faced a difficult follow-on in the second innings. With six wickets down for just five runs, the situation looked desperate. But S. Sivaruban and S. Sereen refused to give up.
Together, they built a remarkable 109-run partnership off 161 balls, bringing hope and fighting spirit back to the Drieberg innings.
Sivaruban scored a brilliant 72 runs off 81 balls, including five fours and four sixes, while S. Sereen produced an outstanding 104 runs off 175 balls. Their partnership demonstrated the value of patience, trust, courage, and teamwork under pressure.
Drieberg College eventually finished their second innings at 198 all out, and Meesalai Veerasingam Central College won the match by five wickets. Although the result went against Drieberg, the determination shown by both Sivaruban and Sereen made this innings a memorable chapter in the match.
Our Pride – S. Sivaruban
At Thenmaradchi Cricket Academy, this achievement means much more than a scorecard.
Sivaruban has been training with our academy since 2018. Over the years, we have watched him grow from a young cricket enthusiast into a confident player and leader. He made history as the first player to score a half-century in the history of the Thenmaravar encounter, and he has achieved another half-century this year, continuing his impressive performances in 2025 and 2026.
Today, he leads his school team as captain. Beyond his batting talent, we know him as an obedient, honest, and dedicated young man who genuinely loves cricket.
What makes us especially proud is that Sivaruban is now helping our coaches train younger children at the academy. The boy who once learned the game with us is now helping the next generation discover their own cricketing potential.
